Architectural Accessibility (Basic Information)
The Museum – Castle in Łańcut is a complex of historic buildings located on a large park area. Some facilities are accessible for people with special needs, including wheelchair users. We aim to make visits as comfortable as possible for every guest.
If you are planning a visit and have questions about accessibility, we encourage you to contact us in advance. We will gladly advise you, suggest the best routes, and – if necessary – allow closer access to the entrance.
General Accessibility Information
Information about the accessibility of individual buildings, exhibitions, and restrooms, including existing barriers and available facilities, can be found in the following sections.
Tickets
You can purchase tickets:
- At the ticket office (3 Maja Street 10, Manege building),

Parking
The Museum does not have its own parking spaces. However, designated free parking spaces for persons with disabilities are available nearby, close to ticket offices and the park entrances.
Park
- The pathways are paved and accessible.
- There are numerous benches along the paths for rest and relaxation.
- Minor obstacles may occur in some areas (e.g., near water drains).
Toilets
Some buildings are equipped with restrooms adapted for persons with disabilities, as well as baby changing stations. Detailed information is provided for each facility.
Assistance
At many locations, Museum staff are available to provide assistance if needed.
Assistance Dog
A guide dog or assistance dog is allowed in all Museum buildings when accompanied by its handler. Please carry valid documentation confirming the dog’s status, vaccinations, and certification.
Quiet Room
Located in the Orangery. A couch and a quiet space are available if you need to calm down or rest.
Ticket Office (Podkarpackie Heritage Centre, 3 Maja Street 10)
This is where most visitors begin their tour. The ticket office building is located right at the entrance to the park and serves as an information point and the starting point of the visit.
- The entrance is at ground level. There may be a slight threshold at the doorway.
- The area in front of the building is paved with granite blocks, which may be difficult for some wheelchairs or walkers.
- The building has a restroom adapted for people with disabilities.
- A tactile, visual, and audio plan of the Museum is available at the ticket desk. Tickets include a QR code with a map for mobile device users.
- After purchasing a ticket, you can proceed directly to your chosen exhibition.
- Access to the park gate leads through the Manege gate and a busy street with a pedestrian crossing – please be cautious.
Historic Park (outer and castle-adjacent)
The park surrounding the complex of Museum buildings is an important part of the visit – it allows for walking, resting, and contact with nature. We have two areas:
Outer Park (Landscape) – large, free of charge (no tickets required).
There are five entrances to the park: two from Kościuszki Street and three from 3 Maja Street – all level with the pavement.
The alleys are paved and have clearly defined edges.
In some places, there are minor obstacles, e.g. water drains, which may hinder wheelchair movement.
There are benches throughout the Park, allowing for rest in the shade of trees.
You can walk your dog on a leash in the Landscape Park. Please clean up after it.
Access to selected exhibitions requires passing through the Park.
Inner Park (at the Castle) – accessible only with a ticket.
The entrance leads through the castle bridge.
This park is fenced and not freely accessible.
If you already have a ticket to the Castle or the Orangery, you do not need to buy an additional ticket.
If you only want to see the Castle Park, you can buy tickets at the ticket machine next to the bridge entrance.
Only a guide dog or an assistance dog may enter the Castle Park.
In the Italian Garden – a part of the Castle Park – there are markings in Braille.
The area is paved and accessible for most manual wheelchairs. If you need assistance – please contact us in advance.
Castle – Interior Exhibition (1 Zamkowa Street)
The Castle is the main highlight of the visit. Some of its interiors are accessible to people with limited mobility – with support from our staff and equipment.
- The entrance has a low step and a ramp with a 6% incline.
- There is no elevator in the Castle. A PTR 160 stair climber (SANO) is available to move between the ground and first floors. It is compatible with lightweight manual orthopedic wheelchairs, but not with sports models.
- The Museum offers two such wheelchairs (VCWK42L model) for visitors to borrow.
- The second floor and the castle baths are not accessible for wheelchair users. Work is ongoing to find solutions and install an elevator in the future. You can tour the second floor virtually at: Virtual Tour.
- Corridors on the first floor are about 1.5 meters wide, allowing comfortable passage with assistance.
- There are level differences and thresholds along the route, all equipped with wide, comfortable ramps.
- One alternate route is marked; no rooms are omitted from the tour.
- Folding chairs are available for rest on the first floor.
- On the ground floor, there is an accessible restroom with a right-side grab bar and a baby changing table.
- Visitors using electric wheelchairs may only access the Entrance Hall.
- Museum staff offer support and assistance if needed during the visit.
- A video titled "Visiting in PJM (Polish Sign Language)" is available on the Museum website and at Glusi.TV. The video has no subtitles.
Stables and Carriage House (14 3 Maja Street)
The Stables and Carriage House form the second part of the main tour and are included in the basic admission ticket. They are located near the Park.
- Note: The route from the Landscape Park to the Stables crosses a busy street. Please exercise caution.
- The pedestrian crossing has a raised area, which may be challenging for wheelchair users, especially when turning.
- Assistance may be needed for entering and exiting the crossing.
- The approach to the buildings has uneven surfaces and may be difficult for visitors with mobility impairments.
- A PJM (Polish Sign Language) video tour of this exhibition is available on the Museum website and Glusi.TV. The video has no subtitles.
Stables:
- Main entrance from 3 Maja Street 14.
- The entrance threshold is high, but a 6% ramp (without handrails) is available beside it.
- The interior is on one level.
- Rooms are spacious and accessible for manual wheelchair users.
Carriage House:
- Entrance is at ground level.
- The exhibition is on one level.
- Tour routes are wide and threshold-free.
- The horse-drawn carriage ride (seasonal attraction) is not accessible to wheelchair users.
- Staff are available to assist visitors during the tour.
Department of Orthodox Art / Icon Exhibition
The icon exhibition is located in the left wing of the Stable building. The entrance is on the side of the building, near the school and sports hall fence.
- The entrance is at ground level.
- The doorway has a medium-height threshold – assistance may be needed.
- The exhibition interior is on one level.
- The exhibit includes audio (Orthodox liturgical music). Upon request, the volume can be lowered or the sound turned off.
- A PJM (Polish Sign Language) video tour of the Orthodox Art Exhibition is available on the Museum website and Glusi.TV. The video has no subtitles.
- Tickets can be purchased on-site.
Orangery and Riding Hall – Jan Potocki Center for Education in Tradition
The Orangery and Riding Hall are the Museum’s modern exhibition spaces. The Orangery is located in the inner Park near the Castle, while the Riding Hall is in the eastern part of the Park, near the gate to the Stables and Carriage House.
Orangery:
- Fully accessible for people with disabilities.
- The entrance is next to the columns – visitors can choose between irregular stairs or a ramp (no handrails).
- A large, even space in front of the entrance allows easy wheelchair maneuvering.
- The building features a passenger elevator, accessible restrooms on each floor, and a cloakroom.
- The basement level has an accessible restroom and a baby changing table.
- Orthopedic wheelchairs and walkers are available to borrow.
- A calming room is available on the ground floor, equipped with a couch, chairs, and blankets – ideal for quiet rest.
- Exhibitions are located on two levels (ground and first floor), accessible by elevator.
- Tickets can be purchased on-site.
Riding Hall:
- Accessible via pathways leading toward the Orchid Greenhouse and tennis courts.
- One entrance may be too narrow for some wheelchairs; the second entrance is wide and equipped with threshold ramps.
- The building has two levels (ground and minus one), connected by stairs and a lift.
- Access to the minus one level is via stairs with a handrail or a platform lift (requires staff assistance).
- On the lower level, there is an accessible restroom with a baby changing table and a cloakroom.
- The exhibition space has wide, clearly marked pathways designed to meet diverse visitor needs.
- Tickets can be purchased on-site.
Orchid Greenhouse
The Orchid Greenhouse is located in the eastern part of the Park, near the tennis courts. It is surrounded by walking paths and open to visitors.
- Access is via hardened park pathways.
- There is fine gravel in front of the entrance, which may pose a challenge for wheelchair users.
- The greenhouse interior features lush greenery, humid air, hanging plants, and automatic misting – which may be a sensory challenge for some visitors.
- Orchid displays are set low, at wheelchair eye level.
- Sensorial tours are possible – prior notice is required and depends on blooming conditions. Touching is not allowed, but smelling is permitted.
- Staff are ready to assist – informing them of your needs in advance ensures a more comfortable visit.
- Tickets can be purchased on-site.
Civic Casino – City History Department
The Civic Casino is located outside the Park area, at the intersection of Kościuszki and Zamkowa Streets, near the main Park entrance. The building houses collections related to the history of Łańcut.
- The entrance is from Kościuszki Street – there are no steps and the threshold is low.
- Additional interior doors are made of glass and clearly marked.
- Inside, there is a stair platform and passenger elevators.
- All levels of the building are accessible via the elevator.
- Each floor has an accessible restroom.
- The exhibitions are available for self-guided tours.
- A PJM (Polish Sign Language) video translation of exhibition materials is available on the Museum website and Glusi.TV. The video has no subtitles.
- Tickets for the Civic Casino can be purchased on-site. Staff members are available to assist if needed during the visit.
Hunting Lodge in Julin
The Hunting Lodge in Julin is a branch of the Łańcut Castle Museum, located in a forested area approximately 20 km from Łańcut, in the direction of Żołynia. The site is a historical building currently undergoing renovation.
- The site is currently closed to visitors.
- Information about reopening will be posted on the Museum’s website.
- Future renovations aim to make the site accessible to various visitor groups. The design stage has already included accessibility features such as ramps, adapted restrooms, maneuvering space, and solutions supporting visitors with sensory and intellectual disabilities.

The Łańcut Castle Museum continuously undertakes actions to ensure communication and information accessibility for all visitors and stakeholders.
- Information about events and services is published on the website in a clear and organized format.
- Selected materials in Polish Sign Language (PJM) are available online.
- All museum buildings and exhibitions are equipped with standardized information boards featuring pictograms, descriptions in Polish and English, and Braille.
- Induction loops are available at main entrance and information points, including: main ticket offices, Castle Vestibule, gift shop, Stables, Carriage House, Orchid Greenhouse, Riding Hall, and Civic Casino.
- At the Orangery, full communication and information accessibility is ensured – exhibitions include audio description and PJM translations, and a PJM-speaking staff member is present. A quiet room is also available.
- An online PJM interpreter is available at the Museum Secretariat. The service will soon be expanded to the main ticket offices and main Park gate (Kościuszki Street).
- Tours can be guided with the use of audio description. In the presence of a blind or visually impaired person, the guide adjusts their narration accordingly and includes detailed descriptions of key works, sites, and exhibition elements.
- Service staff are trained to support persons with specific needs; several staff members use basic PJM.
- Verbal information about the layout of exhibitions and buildings is provided directly by staff and tailored to each visitor's situation.
- Visitors with specific needs can contact the Museum by phone, email, or in person. Alternative formats, such as large print or simplified language folders, are available on-site.
- The Museum has evacuation procedures in place for people with disabilities from upper floors, and the staff is trained in these protocols.
- Upon prior request, a PJM interpreter can be provided for cultural events. Educational programs are tailored to participants’ age and needs, including those with disabilities.
